My Favorite Driveway

There’s honestly nothing better than pulling into my driveway.

That feeling of security, peace, joy and excitement where all I want to do is jump into the arms of people I love most. Nothing beats walking into that house. Standing in the kitchen, catching up with everyone over chips, bruschetta and a pomegranate martini.

My house is a home. I can only hope that one day, I will have a home that is just as welcoming as my parents’ home….or I could just buy it from them in 20 years ;)

The few short days I was in Atlanta were filled with family and dear friends eager to hear about my adventure and celebrate the joy in sharing it. It was one of those days where I realized over and over, “wow, I am blessed beyond measure.”

When Jesus says He will do “immeasurably more” in Ephesians, He really does mean it.

I pray that as I start a career and a post grad future of my own, my new home (wherever that may be) becomes place of laughter. A place where all are welcome. A place where people know to come in the back door unannounced, take their shoes off and sip a cold beer on the porch.

I pray that my children know that this is a place they will be always and forever loved and accepted…because that’s the exact way I feel walking into my parents’ home.

Thanks Mom and Dad for creating a beautifully safe place for me to grow up. Where I could run through the backyard with Roxby, stomp through the creek and cover myself with mud out back. Thank you for inviting my friends in, staying up late to chat and give advice and slaving over delicious meals for all who enter. Hospitality is a talent you both have so clearly been given.

I pray my home is like yours one day. “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without even knowing it." Hebrews 13:2
