And we’re off! Cruising through California headed from San Francisco to Irvine! I’m sitting in the back seat of Gary’s huge truck (I let Nathan, our videographer, have the front seat) with our Aha Moment Airstream being towed right behind. Earlier I was up front with Gary, our rockstar driver, jamming to American Girl by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He was on the air guitar and I took over the drums. We had a solid jam session and he was impressed that I knew some good ole classic rock…thanks mom and and dad ;)

The past 2 days have been a complete whirlwind. We arrived in San Francisco and took a taxi to Sausalito where we were staying for a couple days for training. We began training with an overview of the tour, who we are, why we do what we do, and what we are really about. The biggest thing that stood out to me was the “spirit of the tour.”

The spirit of the tour is authentic, it’s a listening ear, it’s giving a voice to people who so often go unheard. It’s the voice of the every day American who at one point or another have a moment of clarity that may change everything. It’s the voice for the small business owner, or the non-profit founder, or the hopeless romantic who finally found love. The tour is about triumph, heartbreak, obstacles and victories.

As I sit in the back seat of Gary’s big truck with lush fields of almond trees to the left, rugged mountains to the right, wide open road in front of us, "In and Out Burger" in my tummy and Fleetwood Mac jamming in the background, I’m once again left speechless and in awe….maybe I’m having an aha moment….

“The kind of adventure Jesus has invited us on doesn’t require an application or prerequisites. It’s just about deciding to take up the offer made by a father who wants us to come.” – Bob Goff
